Dos – By applying to multiple learning styles in the classroom are we dumbing down our future?

April 8, 2008

I spent the afternoon in a discussion with a coworker discussing the impact of adaptive learning in classrooms.  Originally it started with Higher Education but filtered down to the K-12 education.  How do you feel?  Should we be tailoring learning to the students or will students benefit more from having to learn to adapt on their own?

Hit me back…

Numero Uno – Wikipedia and the Government

Blog Title:  Does Wikipedia have Higher Standards then the Current Administration?

I was looking at an article (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080402-not-notable-enough-for-wikipedia-biographicon-wants-you.html) about Wikipedia deleting personal biographies because they didn’t meet the required “notability” requirement.  That made me laugh, until two seconds later when I noticed an article (http://blogs.computerworld.com/feds_lie_about_link_between_software_piracy_and_terrorism) about the Federal Government claiming that there is a link between software piracy and terrorism without providing any evidence at all.  All political motives aside and I’m sure you’ll figure out my affiliation eventually. Can Wikipedia actually have higher standards then the Federal government when it comes to presenting information?

You make the call and I can’t wait to hear the posts that stem from this one.

Why and What

April 3, 2008

So for years I’ve wanted to join the blogging community.  Maybe it’s a sense of wanting to belong (although I doubt it) and maybe it stems from unnatural fascination with all things web.  I’m a Instructional (and web) Designer by trade, an educator by training, and a future PhD by hope.

Over the past x number of years I’ve always had ideas.  Ideas for the most interesting blog posts in the universe but, alas, no time to write them.  Out of my limited schedule and procrastination comes this blog, I Just Don’t Have Time.

The premise is simple; when I think up a blog post title I’m going to post it here. At that point a few things can happen.  If people are actually interested in contributing to this blog and writing the post I will gladly put it up with all necessary credentials associated, who knows this may become a blog team.  The other option is if someone already has a blog they are more then welcome to steal my title and go from there and, as usual, all I ask is a link back.  Any other ideas are more then welcome as this is most definitely a work in progress.

Maybe I should have called this “Got Writers Block?” Because that’s easily another direction this blog could take. Let me know if ANYONE thinks this is a decent idea. Like, on a scale of 1-10, if I get a 1 then I’ll probably continue.  We’ll see.
